BASED OUT OF LOS ANGELES, CA, AUDIOBRAT WAS FOUNDED BY COMPOSERS JULIE CARPENTER, DAIN LUSCOMBE AND KENNETH J. GIBSON.

WE’RE JUST THREE FRIENDS FROM TEXAS WHO CAME TO CALIFORNIA TO SEE WHERE THE MUSIC WOULD TAKE US. OUR SEPARATE PATHS ALL LED US TO THE SAME NEIGHBORHOOD IN EAST LA WHERE WE RECONNECTED. WE HAVE ALL PLAYED INSTRUMENTS SINCE WE WERE KIDS, AND JOINED BANDS IN THE TEXAS INDIE ROCK SCENE IN COLLEGE.

IN LOS ANGELES, WE ALL FOUND DIFFERENT WAYS TO MAKE MUSIC INTO A CAREER, AND WE’VE SEEN THE INDUSTRY FROM CRAZY ANGLES, INSIDE AND
OUT. THE COMMON PHRASE WE OFTEN CAME BACK TO WAS, “MAN, IF I
WAS IN CHARGE, I COULD DO THIS SO MUCH BETTER!” SO WE FINALLY DECIDED TO GIVE IT A GO, AND TRY TO BRING MORE OF THE TALENT WE SAW AROUND US ALONG FOR THE RIDE.

Julie carpenter

Composer and multi-instrumentalist Carpenter came to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music after graduating from the University of North Texas. After touring extensively as a violinist for acts such as The Eels, Spiritualized, Love with Arthur Lee and recording as a session musician with many others, she began composing for TV/Film and music houses such as Attitude, Megatrax, and Musicbox (a division of Anthem Entertainment, formerly ole). She became interested in catalog management, and joined the team as Catalog Manager for the Musicbox library and is currently Senior Coordinator, Catalog & Royalty Processing with Anthem Entertainment. Her current creative outputs include her recent signing to Kranky records with her project Less Bells.

Dain Luscombe

Over the past decade, composer and instrument builder Dain Luscombe has put his a sonic signature on the TV/Film landscape across a staggering list of genres. He began his journey in commercial music with Killer Trax, LA Riot, Megatrax, later joining Musicbox, Spot On, and numerous other music houses. From earthy Americana blues for shows like Pawn Stars to banging beats for hip-hop dance troupes in Bring It, he’s a true musical chameleon. Where most kids had piano lessons, Luscombe took synth lessons with a pioneer in the electronic arts and so began his musical journey that would lead him from Texas, to Los Angeles, and eventually to running a cutting-edge studio of his own in the wilds of Joshua Tree.
